Behind the Track: Not a Love Song

Not a Love Song is track six on Pretty, Broken Thing. Yes, the title is a little tongue-in-cheek.

What sparked it

I’m well aware of how many love songs are out there. But what about the self-love song? This one is also about being happy in the spot you’re in. You don’t need anyone if you’re happy with yourself.

The line that matters most

“I’ve got a life I wouldn’t trade.”

Because it’s true. If you’re happy, why not stay that way?

Singing it now

It’s a little different now. Like the song says by the end, I wouldn’t mind someone, but I’m still good with where I’m at.
